TONI LEE SHARPLESS — MISSING 17 DAYS; WHY NO ANSWERS?

SharplessToniLee

Toni  Lee Sharpless, a 29 year old nurse from Brandywine PA was last seen leaving the party of a yet unnamed Philadelphia 76er’s home at 5:00 a.m. on August 23rd about 45 minutes from her home she shares with her daughter and her parents, Donna and Peter Knebel. Toni’s family last heard from her in the form of a text message she had sent to her daughter who was having trouble sleeping. That message was sent at 2:57a.m. Toni was last seen by her friend Crystal Jones. According to Crystal , after leaving the party, the two women argued over whether Toni was sober enough to drive. Crystal got out of the car and Toni sped off according to Lower Merion police, and that was the last she was seen.  So why are we just hearing about this now?

I spoke with Toni’s mom, Donna Knebel, and she welcomes Tim Miller and his team from Texas EquuSearch and anyone who will help find her daughter. I spoke with Miller as he was boarding a plane in Texas bound for Philadelphia airport and he said “the focus of this search will be a water search, following the route where Toni was last seen to her home. I believe she’s in the water, I believe we will find her.” However no one knows where Toni went and Donna Knebel won’t rule out foul play at this point. “It’s just not like her to disappear, not call us.” I have to wonder, and I hope Im wrong, but was this story kept quiet to protect the career of another professional athlete?  I’m in no way indicting this still unnamed ball player, but why remain unnamed?? Why are police, and the 76ers and even Toni’s mom not saying who this guy is?  Why not come out and say “this young lady was at my house that evening and I hope they find her.”  Hell why not throw some of that hard earned cash these professional athletes make into the search efforts instead; do nothing and remain silent. Gosh I’d hate for this to hurt anyone’s possible endorsements. Does silence = culpability??  Weigh in.

NOW TEXAS EQUUSEACH TO LEAD SEARCH TOMORROW

Friends and family of Toni Lee Sharpless, still anguishing over the West Brandywine Township mother’s disappearance, and outraged over the police’s search efforts plan to conduct their own search for her on Friday morning.  But now Texas EquuSearch will step in to organize and mobilize any search efforts. They’ll meet in the parking lot at Brandwine Nursing School in Coatesville at 9 a.m. on Friday morning, then head for where Sharpless was supposedly last seen – the corner of Hagys Ford Road and Bobarn Drive in Lower Merion Township. That’s where Crystal Jones got out of Sharpless’ black 2002 Pontiac Grand Prix, Pennsylvania tags, DND-7772. Anyone who wants to help is invited to meet up at the nursing school at 9 a.m. on Friday, September 11, or at the location in Lower Merion , PA.

The red-haired, blue-eyed Sharpless, 29, is 5-foot-5 and weighs about 135 pounds. A check of her credit cards apparently turned up no activity. Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Sharpless or her car is asked to call Lower Merion detectives at 610-649-1000 or West Brandywine police at 610-380-8201.
