Misty’s brother, Tommy Croslin, gets 15 years for drug trafficking

Hank “Tommy” Croslin Jr. , brother of Misty Croslin, also in jail on drug charges, was sentenced this morning morning to 15 years in prison for trafficking in prescription drugs.

Circuit Judge Terry LaRue sentenced Tommy Croslin to 15 years on the charge of trafficking in Roxicodone. Another sentence of five years in prison for drug possession will be served at the same time.

Misty Croslin, was the last known person with 5-year old Haleigh Cummings when  the little girl disappeared from her Putnam County home in February 2009.

The drug-trafficking charges resulted from an undercover operation in January, and also  included the arrest of Ronald Cummings, Haleigh’s father, Donna Brock and others. Croslin’s lawyer, James Werter, urged the judge to consider Tommy Croslin’s cooperation with the investigators in the Haleigh Cummings’ case. Cooperation??  What cooperation??

The prosecution, which was seeking a 30-year sentence — countered that Tommy Croslin only came forward when facing serious prison time — and that he failed to tell authorities what had happened in the home the night Haleigh was reported missing.

This Tuesday marks the 18th month mark of her disappearance. Haleigh’s birthday is August 17th, and what’s left of the family on the “outside” is planning a balloon release in her honor. Maybe now seeing her brother get 15 years will refresh Misty’s  drug clouded memory a little about what happened the night Haleigh disappeared.

NEWS REPORTS THAT HALEIGH CUMMINGS’ BONES FOUND ARE FALSE

In this business, you have to be cautious. The biggest lesson I have learned is reporting something first does not make you a better journalist. Reporting something accurate does. Last night on cable news, it was reported that little Haleigh Cummings’ bones were discovered in the St. Johns River. Today after the media descended on Satsuma, FL, and the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) was flooded with calls, PCSO released a statement (see statement below) saying that the reports were false. What they found were animal bones. These rumors left the other media, police, case watchers and, more importantly, the family with a false sense of hope and closure.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office has received numerous inquiries regarding the recovery of the skeletal remains of missing 5 year-old Haleigh Cummings. A rumor has spread throughout our community that her body has been located. This rumor is false, and this information has been vastly misreported and sensationalized by the media.

The Putnam County Sheriff’s Office did recover animal remains such as alligator claws and teeth, and a multiple animal bones. The agency had an anthropologist at the scene that identified all “biological” items that were recovered as being non-human. Additionally, Misty Croslin could have easily seen these items while she was at the dock while the dive operation was in progress.

In an effort to prevent this false information from impeding our investigation, Sheriff Hardy wants to quell these rumors so we can maintain our focus on the criminal investigation.

EXCLUSIVE; ARE BONES FOUND AT CRIME SCENE LITTLE HALEIGH CUMMINGS??

As I write this, bones pulled from the St. John’s River are being tested to see if they belong to missing Florida child, Haleigh Cummings. Here’s where the problem is — IF they have bones that belong to Haleigh, it’s more than likely that investigators will not be able to get DNA from a perp because of the length of time the body has been in the water. They will have to rely on testimony from witnesses. Based on the stories we’ve heard from Misty, Tommy, Ronald, Cousin Joe, Granny and the rest of the clan, and their admitted drug use, we may NEVER know what happened. What we do know is, if it is her, little Haleigh didn’t put herself in that river, miles away from her home in the middle of the night. Whatever the case, I’m sure there’s a lot of wheeling, dealing and soul searching (for those who have them) going on at the jailhouse tonight. How can we believe anything anyone in this case says, especially Misty? I spent extensive time with her — in Satsuma and in New York — and one thing I can tell you is, she’s a good liar.

MOVE OVER MISTY — MAKE ROOM FOR MOM

While Misty Cummings plead not guilty to drug charges brought against her today in court, her mother was being arrested outside. Lisa Croslin, was arrested on an outstanding theft warrant from a 2009 incident at a local… Walmart. sigh.

Misty Croslin, the ex-stepmother of missing Haleigh Cummings,was transferred to a different jail this morning. Misty Croslin,  was booked into the Putnam County Jail at 6:21 a.m. today, jail records show. She had been at the St. Johns County jail in St. Augustine since her arrest three weeks ago. It’s unclear why she was moved, but maybe because they needed the cell for mom. Misty is now being held on more than $1.3 million dollars bond on numerous drug trafficking charges.  According to Lenord Padilla, he has just  bailed out Misty’s Mom, not sure why.  I can’t keep up. All these shanaigans and still no Haleigh.
